Simple Cotton Flower Washcloth Pattern Instructions
This washcloth can be crocheted in a plain color or you could try a striped version. For the striped version, change colors every 2 rows.
Body
Tie a slip knot onto your hook. Ch 25 + 1 for the turning chain. (25)
Note: If you'd like a larger washcloth, increase the number of chains to the desired width.
Row 1: Starting from the second ch from your hook, hdc along, ch 1, turn (25).
Rows 2 - 17: hdc along, ch 1, turn (25).
Note: You should have a square washcloth. Fold your washcloth in half diagonally and adjust the number of rows to make sure you have a square. Depending on your tension, you might have 16 to 18 rows.
Once your washcloth is square, leave a 4" tail, cut your yarn and fasten off.
Flower
Round 1: With the same color as the washcloth body, work 5 sc into a MC (5). Pull your magic circle closed and sl st to the first sc of Round 1.
Round 2: Ch 1, 2 sc into each stitch around (10). Sl st into the top of the first sc.
Note: the Ch 1 in Round 2 does not count as a stitch.
Leave a 4" tail, cut your yarn and fasten off.
Round 3: Attach white (or any contrasting color). [work a sc and 2 dc into the same stitch, then 2 dc and a sc into the next stitch]. Repeat 5 times. You'll have 5 flower petals.
Sl st to the bottom of the first sc of this round to join.
Ch 10. Sl st into the starting stitch of Round 3.
Leave a 6" tail, cut your yarn and fasten off.
Attaching the Flower to the Washcloth
Sew the flower to one corner of your washcloth with your darning needle using the remaining yarn ends. Make sure that the hanger (ch 10) points to the top so that you can hang your washcloth from there. Also make sure you secure your flower well so that it doesn't fall off with use.
Neatly weave in your ends at the back of the washcloth. Remember that beginning yarn tail as well! Weave it in securely, back and forth and in diagonals to make sure your washcloth doesn't unravel with use.
If you're gifting or selling this washcloth, why not add these cute labels to them?
