What You'll Learn
1. How to crochet the Moss Stitch
- Also known as the granite stitch or crackle stitch.
- It is made by alternating a single crochet (sc) and a chain stitch (ch) in the same row.
- Typically, you work a sc, ch 1 in the same stitch, and in the next stitch, you work a sc again (or a sc in the chain space, depending on the row).
- This pattern creates a dense, textured fabric.
2. How to crochet Ribbing
- Each row of your ribbing has 5 single crochet stitches worked into the back loops of the previous row, which creates the raised ribbing texture.
This pattern is featured in the Winter Washcloth Series 2025. If you'd like to purchase 31 Crochet Washcloth Patterns at a SUPER DISCOUNT, click on below to see the offer.

Size
- Height by width = H: 16.5 cm (6.5 inches) W: 12.5 cm (5 inches)
Yardage

Notes
- This pattern uses the Moss Stitch, which can also be called the Granite Stitch. It alternates between sc and ch stitches in the same row.
- You can make the pattern larger or smaller by changing the type of yarn and/or hook size.
- Numbers at the end of each row (in brackets) indicate the number of final stitches in that row.
