Crochet a Santa Bauble
Fun and Easy Christmas Ornament Idea
It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas! Let’s make it even cozier with a cute Santa bauble you can crochet yourself. This beginner-friendly pattern is a delightful way to use your crochet skills and add them to your Christmas Tree ornaments, give them as gifts to your loved ones or hang them at the bottom of your Christmas Wind Spinners.

Easy Christmas Bauble Crochet Pattern

Materials Needed
- Weight 4 or Aran weight yarn (acrylic or cotton) in red, black and a short strand of yellow. I used Loops & Threads Classic Cotton
- 4 mm crochet hook
- Styrofoam baubles size 6 cm (2.3 inches),18 cm (7 inches) circumference. You can buy them from here.
- A tapestry needle
- A pair of scissors
Abbreviations
- ch = chain
- sc = single crochet
- dc = double crochet
- mc - magic circle
- st = stitch
- sts = stitches
- fo = fasten off

Gauge = 16 dc and 6 rows with a 4 mm crochet hook = 4"x4" (10 cm x 10 cm).
Size
Santa Bauble measures about 21 cm (8 inches) in circumference.

Baubles: 20 m each (22 yards each)
Notes
- You can make the pattern larger or smaller by changing the type of yarn and/or hook size. Check if your bauble fits inside your crocheted piece as indicated and adjust your hook size accordingly. If the bauble is too large, then pick a smaller hook size and vice versa.
- Numbers at the end of each row/round (in brackets) indicate the number of final stitches in that row/round.
- Ch 2 at the beginning of a round does not count as a stitch.
- When you see [ text ] followed by x 6, this means that you should repeat the instructions in the [brackets] 6 times.

Easy Christmas Bauble Crochet Pattern

Crochet Santa Bauble Instructions
Round 1: With red, work a MC, ch 2. 6 dc into the MC. Pull your MC closed. Sl st to the first dc to join (6).
Round 2: Ch 2, 2 dc into each stitch around. Sl st to join (12).
Round 3: Ch 2, [inc, dc into next st] x 6. Sl st to join (18).
Round 4: Ch 2, [inc, dc into next 2 sts] x 6. Sl st to join (24).
Leave a 4" tail, cut your yarn and fasten off.
Check to see that your styrofoam bauble fits snuggly into your crocheted piece.
Round 5: Attach Black yarn, ch 2, dc around. Leave a long 10" tail, cut your yarn and fasten off (24).
Repeat Rounds 1-5 for the bottom half of Bauble 2. Leave a 4" tail, cut your yarn and fasten off.
Thread the 10" black tail with your darning needle. Whip stitch the top and bottom half of your bauble together. (Hold top and bottom parts together with openings facing each other. Stitch through both loops of each stitch of R 5 of the top half of your bauble and both loops of each stitch of Round 4 of the bottom half of your bauble. Stitch about 10 sts, then insert your styrofoam bauble to check size. Continue to stitch around until you enclose the entire bauble.
Weave in your end by stitching back and forth a couple of times in the black santa belt, then bring your yarn to the top of your bauble by inserting your needle through the beginning MC. Use the remaining black strand to hang your bauble.
Buckle
Cut a 10 " strand of yellow yarn.
Thread your darning needle and sew the buckle in a rectangular shape onto the front center of the Santa belt. The width of the buckle should be 3 sts and the height from the top to the bottom of the black section (2 rows).
Tie a double knot to secure and hide your yarn tails inside the bauble stitches.
