Free Crochet Pattern

These tiny Santa hats work up in no time and are beginner-friendly. They're perfect for using up scrap yarn and making something truly cute. You could use them as delightful stocking stuffers, teacher gifts, or festive market items.
All you need is your hook, some red and white yarn, and some earring hooks! Follow the step-by-step instructions below and you'll have a cute and festive little Santa hat earrings set.

Materials Needed
- DK or weight 3 yarn (acrylic or cotton) in red and white. I used Paintbox Yarns Simply DK which comes in a 5 Ball Color Pack
- Crochet hook that fits your yarn. For this project I used a 3 mm hook.
- A tapestry needle
- A pair of scissors
- Earring hooks
- Jewelry pliers/tongs

Abbreviations
- MC = Magic Circle
- sc = single crochet
- sl st = slip stitch
- st = stitch
- sts = stitches
- fo = fasten off

Gauge = 10 sc and 12 rows with a 3 mm crochet hook = 5 cm (2.5").
Size
Height by width = (8 cm x 5 cm) (3 inches x 2 inches)
Yardage
Approx. = 8 -10 meters (8.75 to 11 yards)
Notes
- You can make the pattern larger or smaller by changing the type of yarn and/or hook size.
- Numbers at the end of each row (in brackets) indicate the number of final stitches in that row.

Santa Hat Earrings Crochet Pattern Instructions
Hat
Row 1: With red, work 2 sc into a Magic Circle (MC). Pull the MC closed, Turn (2)


Row 2: 2 sc into the first st, sc into the next, turn (3)

Row 3: 2 sc into the first st, sc into the next 2 sts, turn (4)

Row 4: 2 sc into the first, sc into the next 3 sts, turn (5)
Leave a 4" tail, cut yarn and fasten off.
Attach white, work a sc into that same st, 4 sc across. (Try to work over your yarn tails or weave them in at the end)


Leave a 4" tail, cut yarn and fasten off.
Pom Pom
With white, tie a sl knot on your hook, ch 2, sl st to the 2nd ch from your hook to join.




Leave a short tail, cut yarn and fasten off.
Sew the pom pom onto the top of the hat with your yarn needle using the remaining yarn tail.


Weave in your ends and cut excess.
Repeat instructions for the second earring.
Attach earring hooks with your jewelry pliers to the pom poms.
