All the other methods of making crochet hearts I knew produced hearts that were far too big for the project I needed them for. No matter how small the hook size I used or how I tried to adapt the patterns to make them smaller, nothing worked.
I needed to create the tiniest heart that would fit on the Emoji Worry Worm I was working on. After a bit of experimentation, I almost gave up...
until one night, when I had a hard time falling asleep, the idea for this simple crochet heart popped into my head...
I got up immediately, tried it out and if worked!
So I'm really excited to show you how I did it and you'll be surprised how incredibly easy it is.

For this project, my gauge was 6 stitches & 2 rows in dc = 2.5 cm

Between 2 to 3 meters (2.1 to 3.2 yards) of DK yarn.
Measurement
This tiny heart measures approximately: H = 0.5 inches (1.5 cm), and W = 0.6 inches (1.7 cm).
Notes
- You can use any type of yarn as long as you have a corresponding crochet hook size (check yarn label for recommendations).
- Numbers at the end of each step (in brackets) indicate the number of final stitches in that step.

Tiny Crochet Hearts Instructions
These are probably the smallest hearts you'll ever crochet! They're simple and fit perfectly onto the Valentine's Worry Worm face.

So let's get started:
- With your red yarn and 2.5 mm hook, tie a slip knot on your hook, ch 5 (5)
Note: Keep your chain stitches quite tight,

- Sl st into the fist chain. Keep it tight.
Note: Make sure you're not slip stitching into the beginning slip knot.

- Ch 5. (5)

Chain 5
- Sl st again into the fist ch. (Same st as your first sl st).

Slip Stitch into first stitch
- Leaving a 4" tail, cut your yarn and fasten off. Leave your yarn tails so you can attach the heart to your crochet project with your tapestry needle.

Leave yarn tails to attach heart to your crochet project.
And that's it! Your tiny little crochet hearts done in under 1-minute 🙂
You could make these even smaller by replacing the ch 5 with a ch 4, or make them slightly larger by replacing the ch 5 with a ch 6. See what size fits the project you need it for and experiment until you find the perfect sizing.
