Woobles-Crochet-Kit-Review

My Experience With The Woobles Crochet Kit (a detailed review)

Are you thinking of trying out a Woobles Crochet Kit, but want to make sure that this is the right choice for you?

Perhaps you just heard about these cute little amigurumi (crochet plushies) and would like to try and make one for yourself or give it to someone as a gift...

After all... so many people are saying they've had lots of success learning how to crochet with The Woobles.

But where are you going to find these crochet kits, how much do they cost, what will you learn and are they really worth it?

Let me tell you all about my personal experience with The Woobles Crochet Kit. I'll share with you everything from how I found them, bought them, made them and what I think of them. I even tested them on my kids (7 & 9 year olds).

I hope this will help you discover more about The Woobles and their Crochet Kits and answer any questions you might have.

Note: This is not a sponsored post. The Woobles did not ask me to write a review about them. I simply purchased a crochet kit from The Woobles online store and got another one as a gift from my friend in Tennessee.

I'm an experienced crocheter and I teach beginners how to crochet, so naturally I was curious not only to crochet a Wooble myself, but also to see how The Woobles go about teaching the art of crochet to beginners.

Are you just learning how to crochet? Have a look at these awesome crochet kits that are perfect for beginners! They make great gifts too 🙂

Alright, so you've stumbled across The Woobles and want to find out a little more before you go ahead and buy one. I'm sure you've heard they're not cheap, so let's go a little in-depth and see whether this is the right purchase for you.

Before we get started, though... let me give you a brief background on The Woobles, who they are and why they've gained so much popularity.

Who Owns The Woobles?

Justine Tiu, a former UX designer for Google Classroom, and Adrian Zhang, a former Wall Street trader, are the co-founders of The Woobles. When they started out, all they had was "a crochet hook, yarn and a dream" (The Business Journals, Oct. 7, 2021).

What Is The Woobles' Mission?

Justine & Adrian's mission is to teach beginners how to crochet through online video tutorials that accompany their all-in-one crochet kits for adorable amigurumi characters.

"The duo not only develop new kits that aim to help beginners pick up a skill commonly thought could only be learned in person, they're also trying to improve how people master new skills more broadly." (Stephens, R. Fortune, Dec. 5, 2021)

Justine explains that The Woobles is no ordinary crochet kit. Here's what she has to say:

The Woobles Review

Where is the Woobles Company Located?

The Woobles Company is based in Cary, North Carolina, United States.

How Old Is The Woobles Company?

The Woobles Company was founded in July 2020 (Fortune.com).

What Is The Woobles Worth?

The Woobles' initial investment was $200 which grew into a $5 million enterprise within 2 years!!

What is The Woobles Story?

The idea of The Woobles started when Justine T. wanted to make a little hand-made crochet plushie for a friend one day.

She found navigating through YouTube tutorials quite tedious, trying to figure out bits and pieces of things she didn't know yet to make an Amigurumi (Japanese term for crocheted or knitted stuffed toys.

She ended up thinking,

"What’s a girl gotta do to crochet a cute penguin, goshyarnit?!"

And that's where the idea was born - how to make it super easy for beginners to learn how to crochet.

She & her team started assembling beginner-friendly crochet kits of cute little animals, choosing the best yarn for beginners to work with, one that doesn't split or fray, writing up amigurumi patterns, filming video tutorials to teach each step in intricate detail and making orders in China for these kits to be prepared (not only with the materials, but also with a pre-started Magic Loop, and 3 stitch markers inserted in the first stitches to kick-start the woobles).

I'm sure this journey was super exciting, but it sure wasn't smooth sailing! Their first order of 10,000 kits arrived from China with all the Magic Loops done incorrectly! What a nightmare trying to fix that!

But they persevered... and corrected all these mistakes themselves.

This is just to show that although Justine & Adrian faced unbelievable problems with their business, they managed to jump these hurdles and carry on woobling to success (Deczynski, R, INC Magazine).

I think that's a wonderful inspiration 🙂

The Woobles on Shark Tank

One thing that really kicked off The Woobles Crochet Kits is their appearance on ABC's Shark Tank in an episode that aired in October 2022. You can watch their pitch in the video below.

According to the "Milwaukee Business Journal", the handshake deal with Mark Cuban and Lori Greiner "failed to close" after the Shark Tank appearance. The offer was $450,000 in exchange for a 6% equity stake in their Cary-based company. "And while the deal has not officially closed – due diligence began when the cameras stopped rolling." (Lauren Ohnesorge, Senior Staff Writer - Triangle Business Journal.Oct 3, 2022).

Can you feel the excitement?!

There's something really special about these crochet kits. But what is it? Would you like to try one for yourself?

Let me show you everything you need to know about the actual crochet kits so you can make your own buying decision.

The first thing you might ask is how you could get your hands on a Woobles Crochet Kit.

Well, you have several options...

Where To Buy The Woobles Crochet Kits

You can find The Woobles Crochet Kit both in physical stores and online. At the moment, The Woobles Crochet Kits are only available in the US & Canada. So if you live anywhere else in the world (like I do), we'll have to figure out how to get one to you internationally. More on that below.

1. The Woobles Crochet Kits In Stores

You can buy some of The Woobles Crochet Kits in stores throughout the US & Canada. Here's a list of all the stores that have The Woobles Kits available for sale. If none of these stores are in your area, The Woobles mention this on their website:

You can buy select Woobles beginner crochet kits in-person at stores throughout the US and Canada. If you'd like to be able to snag a Wooble at your favorite local store, just ask them to place an order over at thewoobles.faire.com or contact us at [email protected].

2. The Woobles Crochet Kits Online

The Woobles Crochet Kits on The Woobles Website

One way you can get a hold of your Woobles Crochet kit is directly from their online store on The Woobles website. They have a super easy check-out process and this is what I opted for when I bought mine. I'll explain the exact process below and tell you every step of my experience.

The Woobles Crochet Kits on Amazon

If you're used to shopping on Amazon, you might want to purchase your crochet kit from there. Here's a link that will take you directly to The Woobles shop on Amazon

These kits are so popular on Amazon that you might find some of them are sold out quite quickly. If that's the case, simply go to option number one and order directly from their website.

The Woobles Crochet Kits on Etsy

Another option would be to buy your Crochet Kit from The Woobles Etsy Shop.  Not all the kits are available there, just the basic beginner ones, but the cool thing is, you can see which ones are the most popular and of course you can read previous purchasers' reviews to make a more informed decision of which one you'll want to choose.

Note: If you're gonna type in the name of the Woobles store into Etsy, make sure you write thewoobles as one word because if you write a space in between the two words, that'll take you to another shop!

The-Woobles-Etsy-Store

The Woobles Crochet Kits on Blick Art Materials

The Woobles Kits have recently been stocked at Blick Art Materials. Here you might find kits that are out of stock elsewhere. Again, you can read people's reviews, which you'll notice are all positive! The Woobles have a 5 start rating on this website.

The Woobles Crochet Kits at The Woolery

If you're looking for a specific kit that's sold out on other sites, you might find it at The Woolery. Have a look there as well.

So given these purchasing options, it's really easy to get your hands on a Wobbles Crochet Kit if you live in the US or Canada (although you might have to wait a couple of weeks to get it shipped to Canada).

But what do you do if you live on another continent and would really like to try out one of these adorable Woobles?

Well, that's the situation I'm in and I thought I'd share my experience with you.

I live in Europe (Switzerland) and have been hearing LOTS about The Woobles online. When I first headed over to their website and looked through all the adorable Woobles Kits they've got on offer, I was naturally quite disappointed to find out that I couldn't get one shipped to me in Europe at this time (2023).

So I went ahead and did some research to see how I could get one sent to me.

I checked out if I could have my kit shipped to me in Switzerland through Amazon.com. That wasn't even possible. I got a pop-up saying "We are unable to ship non-physical items from Amazon.com to your shipping address."

Bummer... so now what?

I checked if I could find some Woobles Crochet Kits on Amazon.co.uk or Amazon.de, but no luck. There were no Woobles Kits available at all.

The only thing that was available, is the Wooble Crochet Book for Beginners. It's called: "Crochet Amigurumi for Every Occasion (Crochet for Beginners): 21 Easy Projects to Celebrate Life's Happy Moments".

The Woobles Book

That's definitely a book I'd like to buy at some point, but for now, I was just interested in trying out the kit.

So I tried an international forwarding shipping service like Shipitto.com where one can purchase items from the US and have them delivered anywhere worldwide. Another option would be Reviano, another international parcel forwarding shipping service.

But before I went ahead and put in my order, I got a phone call from my mom saying our dear friends Joanne & Jeri from Tennessee were coming to visit us in Switzerland next month and that they're asking if we'd like them to bring anything along from the US!

What great timing!!

I was really excited that we'd see them again and naturally I took this opportunity to make an online order from The Woobles and send it to their home in Tennessee for them to bring along. I'll tell you all about my ordering and shipping experience step-by-step.

The Woobles crochet kits are perfect for beginners. They include all the supplies you need to make a cute little plushie. Step-by-step written & video instructions are included.

Woobles Crochet Kit Coupons

If you look around a little, you can sometimes get coupons, offers or discounts for The Woobles crochet kits. If that's something that would interest you, you could try these options:

  • Sign up to The Woobles newsletter where they often send out special offers & deals. You can sign up for some limited edition kits and get text alerts to be notified of pre-sales.
  • You could also try the Knoji website that shows you current promos, coupons and discount codes.
  • Another site you could check out is the Dealspotr website which also has updated deals and coupon codes.
  • Worthepenny is also a site you could have a look at to see what's on offer with The Woobles.

There are obviously lots more coupon and discount sites. I'll try to update these here.

Ordering The Woobles Crochet Kit Online

I chose to order my Woobles Crochet Kit on the Woobles website. I had a look through all the available plushies, chose the Wee Wittle Woobles Bundle, added it to my shopping cart, typed in our friends' US address as a Shipping Address and paid for the Kit with my PayPal.

I just wanted to share a few points on my shopping experience on The Woobles website.

The Woobles Online Shopping Experience

The Woobles website is very clear, simple and its design makes it easy to navigate through the different plushies on offer.

All the characters are super cute and the prices vary a little, so it took me a while to decide which ones I wanted.

Since I’m an advanced crocheter just curious to see how the Woobles Kit works up, I decided to go for the Wee Wittle Woobles Bundle that had several little creatures that I knew my kids would enjoy.

This bundle is rated as Beginner +, so it’s probably not meant for people just starting out. I felt this bundle was priced well and the variety of plushies included would make it interesting for me to work up.

I would have really wanted a crochet hook from the Woobles, but I discovered that one can’t order a hook separately. The hook only comes with beginner kits, so that was a bit disappointing for me. I own several 4mm hooks already, so another one from The Woobles isn’t really that urgent. I just wanted to check out the style and quality because crochet hooks really do differ a lot.

I proceeded with my online order of the Wee Wittle Woobles Bundle that’s priced at $35.00 and discovered I’d have to pay for shipping and taxes as well. There is only one option for Standard Shipping costing : $4.82. Then came US taxes (that we’re not really used to here in Europe), so the total came out to be $43.70. Here’s the exact breakdown:

Subtotal: $35.00

Tennessee State Tax: $2.79

Williamson County Tax: $1.09

Shipping: $4.82
------------------------------------------

Total: $43.70

Alright, so I went ahead and confirmed that I’d pay this amount. I was then offered a one-time-offer for another crochet kit that I could add to this shipment at a discount. I wasn’t that interested to add more kits before I try this one, so I declined the offer.

To be honest, if I were offered a crochet hook or the free Tin at that point, I’d probably have added those to my cart. I suppose I won’t be getting a tin because I didn’t start my order with that. So be careful, if you do want a Woobles Tin to keep all your woobly bits, make sure it’s in your shopping basket before you make your order for the Kit/s.There’s a pop-up on The Woobles website offering you the Tin for free and when you opt in, it automatically gets added to your cart.  In any case,  I was then redirected to PayPal, I paid this total and everything progressed very smoothly.

The Woobles Survey

After payment was processed, I was redirected to a survey asking a few questions about how I found out about The Woobles, what brought me to their site, why I decided to purchase from them and a few more questions that will let them get to know their customers better. I think this is really great and shows that The Woobles put a lot of effort into market research and listening to their customers’ wants and needs.

The last question of the survey asks if you’d like to join their FB community and if you answer yes, then it takes you straight to their FB Group where you’ll be asked a few more questions to be eligible to join the group.

The Woobes Offer

After I submitted my feedback, I got a popup on my screen saying “Get $5 off when your friends buy from your referral link” that you can instantly share with your friends through several social media share buttons. That’s really cool!

Order Confirmation

I went over to check my inbox to see if I received an order confirmation, and sure enough… there it was. This was their message: “We got your order, and we're wooblin’ hard to send it out of our warehouse in a few days. If you’re in Canada, it'll take an extra 2-3 weeks for your order to get to you.”

So make sure to keep delivery time in mind… At this point, I would have loved to see a track-your-shipment link somewhere, but I couldn’t see it right away.

Customer Service

The confirmation email I received in my inbox included the phrase: ”Have other questions in the meantime? Just hit reply”.

I did have a couple of questions, so I did reply to their email and asked my 3 questions:

  • If I could still include the Free Tin in my shipment
  • If I could purchase the crochet hook separately
  • If I could track my shipment.

3 minutes later, I received this reply:

  • Yes, they’d include my Free Tin in my order (Yay!)
  • Crochet hooks are not sold separately yet, but they’re working on it. The hooks come pre-packed into their kits so far.
  • And concerning the tracking number, I was told that once my package is on its way, they’d send over a confirmation email with its tracking number. (This was processed within a few minutes from my purchase).

And then I received an automated email from The Woobles with a customer satisfaction survey to rate the conversation between myself and their support team. I must say, their support was excellent!

A couple of days later, our friend in Tennessee received the package… Wow! That was fast!

She opened the package and noticed that there was no crochet hook included. (I knew that, but she didn't). She remembered seeing The Woobles crochet kit in a gift store in her neighborhood, so she went ahead and bought me Fred The Dinosaur as a gift since that kit included a crochet hook. Isn't that sweet! 🙂

The Woobles Crochet Kits

Being the impatient person that I am, I couldn't wait a month to get the kit and wanted to get a head start trying one of The Woobles patterns I found online...

The Woobles Crochet Patterns

Normally, the Woobles Crochet Patterns come in digital format as part of their Amigurumi kits, but you can also get some of their patterns in print format.

The Woobles Crochet Book

The Woobles released a book of their patterns as I mentioned above. It's called "Crochet Amigurumi for Every Occasion (Crochet for Beginners): 21 Easy Projects to Celebrate Life's Happy Moments."

Where To Get The Woobles Crochet Patterns for Free

I discovered that I could get a Woobles crochet pattern for Free! I found these 2 patterns:

I initially found Kiki The Chick as a written pattern on Justine's Ravelry page on Justine T.’s Ravelry Shop. This was very exciting and I went ahead and downloaded The Easter Chick PDF pattern for free. You can also get this pattern for Free on The Woobles website.

You’ll get the written pattern, ad-free, but you won’t have access to the video tutorial for this pattern. This is only available to people who have purchased the Kiki The Chick Crochet Kit. You get access to these video tutorials via a password that’s provided on the card that comes with your kit.

I figured I wouldn’t need a video tutorial, so I went ahead and followed the written pattern. It's written in US terms, so if you're used to UK terms, you can simply use this conversion sheet for reference.

I had some leftover yellow Aran yarn that I used for this project. I tell you, I had just enough to finish it! I literally had about an arm's length of yarn left by the end of it! Just perfect!!

The Easter Chick actually turned out a little larger than I had imagined judging from the product photos. It does state that the size should be around 3 in (7.6 cm) tall and the size will depend on the tension of each crocheter.

Kiki The Chick The Woobles

In any case, the Easter Chick was really fun to make and my kids absolutely adore it.

Note: If you also would like to make Kiki the Chick and do need some help with video tutorials, you can watch these tutorials that teach different stitch patterns and will be quite helpful.

I've also prepared a free printable for you with all the different terms & stitch abbreviations used in crochet.

Unboxing The Woobles Crochet Kit

Alright, so that month went by really quickly and our friends arrived to Switzerland.  It was so lovely to see them again and I was especially excited to finally have a Woobles Crochet Kit in my hands!

I went ahead and took some photos of the kit & its contents and started woobling!

The Woobles Crochet Kit Wee Wittle Woobles Bundle

Let me show you exactly what's included in a Woobles Crochet Kit, how it works up and my experience with it.

The Woobles Crochet Kits

Packaging

My first impression of the Woobles Crochet Kit was that it comes in a neat & well-designed package. The colors are vibrant, the text can be read easily and there's a bit of humor which adds a sprinkle of fun to the already cute & iconic photo.

Materials

The materials included in The Woobles Crochet Kit are of superior quality, the yarn colors are vibrant and exciting and the instructions are clear and straight-forward. Unlike other crochet kits I've tried that come with a basic steel hook, The Woobles crochet hook is a 4mm ergonomic hook, that is comfortable to hold and can be used for many other crochet projects using commonly sized acrylic yarn.

The amount of yarn that you get is more than enough even if you have very loose tension. You also get a pair of safety eyes, a yarn needle and stuffing for your wooble.

The Woobles Crochet For Beginners

The pre-started Magic Ring/Loop is genius, because this would really be the hardest part for a newbie at Amigurumi to figure out. The fact that they added a knot to it is even more genius because if someone would accidentally rip out the magic Ring/loop, it would be impossible to start over again. The knot they added keeps the magic Ring/loop in place so you'll never lose your starting point.

The card that's included in the kit has a QR code, URL and password, which makes it feel quite exclusive.

Video Tutorials

The video tutorials are very well laid out into bite-sized chapters, explain the process in clear steps and what makes them really great is that they have right and left-handed tutorials which is something you don't really find in most crochet video tutorials.

The format of videos has been optimized for mobile, so you'll see them nice & clear on desktop or your cellphone.

The lessons are divided into short chapters, one for each step of the crocheting process. This is helpful because you can skip through the sections of stitches you might already know.

woobles crochet kit instructions

And let me tell you, the way Justine explains all the stitches is super detailed and explained in a way that a complete beginner would understand. My kids of 7 & 8 were able to grasp the techniques from the first time of watching.

I was quite surprised to see that Justine opted to teach techniques that I'd consider quite advanced! From her videos, my kids were even able to learn how to work up invisible decrease stitches! Wow!

How To Crochet For Kid Beginners

Written Instructions

I'm the type of person who likes written patterns, so I was happy to see that I could download the PDF pattern, print it and tick off my rounds as I progressed.

Woobles Crochet Patterns

You have the option to download a PDF Pattern by clicking on the top right corner.

I kind of expected the written pattern to be included in the package in paper form because that's what I'm used to from other crochet kits, but The Woobles opted not to add a printed pattern. This is because they want to encourage newbie crocheters to watch the video tutorials since this is the easiest way to learn.

So whether you're a visual person or prefer following a written pattern, you'll find everything you need in this kit. And the fact that you can combine the two learning methods will definitely ensure that you get your wooble done correctly.

I’m not sure what it is that’s making me so excited about The Woobles Crochet Kits. I mean, I’ve been crocheting for years and this should be a piece of cake for me, but I guess the hype around The Woobles these days is making it an attractive purchase. They've already got over 84 thousand members in their private FB group! Wow!!

The Woobles FB Group

And probably the fact that it was quite difficult for me to get a hold of one just make it all the more appealing... the psychology of humans, I tell you!!

But what I'm really interested in is experiencing the Woobles Crochet Kit with all its tutorials, community engagement on social media and sharing the cute plushies with my kids.

I was curious to see how my kids would react to watching me work up these Woobles and I wanted to see how they'd play with them once I gave them their chosen characters.

Little did I know that my kids would completely take over The Woobles Kits and make them themselves!!

How To Teach A 7 Year Old To Crochet

Let me start with “Fred the Dinosaur”. This is a single amigurumi character measuring about 4" (10 cm) - the exact size will depend on the crocheter's tension.

Fred-The-Dinosaur-Crochet-Kit-The-Woobles

It’s easy to rip open the cute little orange package from the top, and out come all the exciting materials to make this adorable dinosaur.

  • Easy Peasy yarn in green & yellow.
  • 4 mm crochet hook
  • Stuffing
  • Plastic eyes
  • Yarn Needle
  • Online instructions
  • Step-by-step video guide.

The green yarn already includes a pre-started Magic Circle with 3 stitch markers attached to it to make it easy for beginners to get right into the project.

The reason they do this is because the Magic Loop/Circle is one of the more challenging things to figure out in crochet, so you wouldn't want to get bogged down by that before you even start the project.

Fred-The-Dinosaur-The-Woobles-Magic-Ring

Don't worry though, you will have to learn how to do the Magic Circle or an alternative to make other Woobles plushies and their parts. If you want to check out some video tutorials on how to make a Magic Circle, you can follow the Woobles one or have a look at how other crocheters teach how to do a Magic Circle.

As I was taking out the materials for Fred the Dinosaur in preparation to start working on him, my 8 year old son walked into the room and checked out what I was doing. He asked me if he could give it a go and I immediately thought this would be a great opportunity for him to learn some more about crochet! At this point, he already knew how to make a slip knot, chain and fumbled around some basic stitches, but he had never worked on a full project.

We started watching the Woobles video instructions together and he was so absorbed and focused! I couldn't have been more delighted to watch him spend over 2 hours in deep concentration working on his little dinosaur!

I must say, the video tutorials are extremely thorough. Not only does Justine do a great job explaining how to progress with the pattern, but she also goes into great detail to showcase how the math works and how to work crochet increases and decreases. Even my 8 year-old was able to understand these concepts the way she explained them (using charts and colored markers to explain the placement of each stitch).

Now comes the exciting part: the stuffing!

He'll be working on his Wooble for another couple of days, I guess. I'll be posting a photo of his finished Dinosaur once he's done.

2. Wee Wittle Woobles Bundle

Ok, so now let’s see what’s included in the “Wee Wittle Woobles Bundle”. This bundle comes in a different packaging style.  It’s a blue plastic bag with all the characters of the bundle pictured on it. You can simply tear it open and there are 8 little purple packages inside, 1 for each tiny wobble character.

Wee Wittle Woobles Bundle

I first opened “Le Petit Pierre” and found small amounts of yarn in blue, white, yellow & black, some stuffing, and a card with a QR code & URL website address for instructions.

Let Petit Pierre The Woobles

I went ahead and typed in the URL into my laptop browser, found my Wooble and typed in the password that’s mentioned on the card.

The first thing that came up was a video of Justine saying that this set of Woobles is not meant for absolute beginners. And she was right! Small doesn't mean easy. So if you've never crocheted before, make sure you go for a beginner Wooble Kit first before you try any of these tiny ones.

I started on "Le Petit Pierre" following the video instructions. I made my own magic circle to start off with and got a feel of the crochet hook & yarn.

The-Woobles-Magic-Circle

Easy Peasy Yarn & The Woobles Crochet Hook

My first impression was that the yarn was quite sturdy and easy to work with and the crochet hook was comfortable to hold. I expected the yarn to be a little softer, but it does its job of creating a sturdy plushie perfectly well.

My daughter commented on the yarn as soon as she touched it. "This is really nice yarn!" she said. And my son was also intrigued and wanted to test it for himself.

The yarn definitely doesn't fray or split while crocheting, but the kids had a little bit of difficulty with the stitch marker and needle splitting the yarn. No biggie though...

To carry on with the project, I opted to follow the written pattern because I didn't want to be sitting in front of the screen the whole time. I found the PDF pattern available for download, so I did that and continued my little Wooble that way.

Let Petit Pierre The Woobles Crochet

Once I was done following the written PDF pattern, I found that there were no instructions for his eyes. There was some black yarn included in the package that I hadn't used yet and I saw that he was photographed with eyes on the packet, so I looked around a bit and found the video tutorial for the eyes.
Note: Make sure you refer to the video tutorials of Le Petit Pierre for instructions on how to add the eyes.

I went ahead and finished my little Pierre and tadaa! Here he is. Isn't he just adorable?! 🙂

The-Woobles-Le-Petit-Pierre

The next little wooble my kids asked me to make for them is the Tennsy Weensy Narwahl. I followed the video instructions for this one and felt the Narwahl was easier to work up than Le Petit Pierre, so I'd recommend you start with this one or with the Poquita Chickita.

The Woobles Narwal Le Petit Pierre

What I love about these little woobles is that there's a new crochet technique to be learned with every Wooble. You learn about color change with the Narwahl, how to sew one crochet piece onto another with Le Petit Pierre, or how to attach limbs, create accessories and so much more.

The Woobles Crochet Kit Review

My 7 year old daughter asked if she could try one of the tiny woobles. I explained that the tiny ones are a little more challenging, but she was up for it.

We watched the video tutorials together and I was amazed at how she could follow all the instructions to the T!! In one day (2 sittings with a swimming class in between), she managed to create her very own tiny Wooble.

We still have more Woobles to work up in this bundle and we can't wait to get them all done. I'll post more photos when we've completed them all. Looks like the kids are taking over from here 🙂

For now, my son is still working on Fred the Dinosaur and I'll also post a photo of his once he's finished. He's keen to work on him more, but he's so busy this week with school, sports and what not! I want him to take his time with his project and wouldn't advise pushing kids to finish something like that. Is The Woobles Crochet Kit Worth It?

Absolutely! The Woobles Crochet Kit is definitely worth your investment. Don't think of it as a handfull of yarn and tidbits in a plastic bag. It's so much more than that! The choice of high quality materials, the learning resources you get with your kit, the communities you can join for questions & support, and the confidence you build by challenging yourself with a new craft is priceless!

Let me break down the benefits of a Woobles Crochet Kit for you:

1. High quality materials: The kit comes pre-packaged with specially-designed quality yarn, crochet hook and all the tools & bits you'll need to complete an adorable plushie so you don't need to worry about buying the right yarn, color, weight, etc. and hook size for your project.

2. Easy way to learn crochet: The Woobles offer bimodal learning through video & text. The step-by-step video tutorials (for both right and left-handed) are geared towards complete crochet newbies and really guide you through the process in bite-sized video chapters. Not only do you learn how to crochet, but also how to read a crochet pattern and understand the maths behind crochet projects. The Woobles really put lots of effort into making this a fool-proof method to learn how to crochet.

3. Great gift idea for teens & adults: The Woobles crochet kits make for awesome gift ideas either as a kit or as a finished project that you've created yourself. If you give someone a kit as a gift, you'll be giving them the opportunity to learn a wonderful craft that will last them a lifetime. If you give away your finished plushie as a gift, they will truly love it and you might just get someone else interested in learning how to crochet!

4. Fun Craft That's Great For Your Mental Health: Crochet is known to do wonders to a person's mental health. You'll soon notice that working up your plushie is not only super fun, but you'll spend your time creating it in deep focus & concentration. It's an awesome feeling finishing a project that you made with your own two hands.

  • Hi. I loved this review, very thorough. The one thing that bothered me about the Woobles was that there are so many free video tutorials out there now to learn how to crochet, very detailed, and videos about yarn, hooks, etc, that I didn’t feel the need to actually pay for something I could find online easily. However, that being said, it might be fun to check it out and try something different just to see how they do it. I would love to teach kids how to crochet…but again, so many things out there. You did a great job with the review. Thank you!

    • Thank you so much for your feedback Robin. You’re absolutely right! There are LOTS of free video tutorials out there, but I feel the problem is that most beginners wouldn’t know how to navigate through all this information. So many people get frustrated because they can’t figure out certain things to the point where they give up. I’ve come across this problem mentioned in many FB groups. Going through the testimonials and reviews of The Woobles crochet kits, there were many who mentioned that they finally figured out how to crochet, even though they had tried before (both video tutorials and in-person guidance). I personally feel that The Woobles package the whole learning experience so well that it’s virtually fool-proof. You get the exact materials you need, in the right quantities, colors & sizes + assistance to complete your project in both video and text format. Sure, someone could try and learn how to crochet in a more cost-effective way… just go to the store, buy some yarn and a crochet hook and try to find beginner crochet-tutorials online for free, but there are quite a few variables that could go wrong in this process. They could buy a difficult yarn to work with in terms of texture or color, a hook size that’s not suitable, follow a tutorial that’s not geared towards complete beginners which could be too fast or too slow, or that uses terms that person is not yet familiar with. From my own experience, The Woobles crochet kits are meant for people who have no idea about crochet and the tutorials are structured in such an easy-to-follow way, super detailed and everything is explained very slowly and clearly step-by-step. As I mentioned, even my 7 & 8 year-old kids were able to follow along and felt super proud of themselves when they finished their little wooobles. To me, that’s proof that The Woobles are doing it right 🙂

      • Hello I don’t usually right a review or a comment so bare with me. I loved your review. I have been crocheting since I was like 4 years old. I am 67 so that is a long time. I love learning new things so when I saw these Woobles kits I wondered if they were worth buying and learning someone else’s way of crocheting. I love that when you learn the first way you can then change it to your way or to modify it to make something new! I have made some self taught amigurumi type critters, but I knew I I wanted to see others make it or like how patterns and instructions were done. I totally am going to order a kit. Thank You for this review, Carol

        • Thank you so much Carol for sharing your thoughts on the Woobles kits! I love the fact that they even appeal to experienced crocheters like yourself. Please do let me know what you think after you’ve worked up a Woobles character. Which one did you end up going for?
