Easy Crochet Boot Cuffs for Ankle Boots
Free Pattern
I bought these beautiful hand-made Italian riding boots a while back, but boy do they hurt my ankle when I wear them! I put them in my shoe closet and didn't put them on for months, until I decided to do something about that!
I whipped up a quick cuff and it transformed these shoes! I can now wear them comfortably and I think the cuffs look really cute on them too.
I first tried them with worsted weight # 4 yarn, but felt that was too thick, so I tried again with DK and found that to be just perfect!
If you'd like to have a go at these boot cuffs, you can follow the free pattern below or purchase the PDF Printable version from my shops.

Notes
This boot cuff pattern is beginner-friendly with step-by-step photo tutorials.
You can make the pattern larger or smaller by either: changing the yarn weight and/or hook size, adding or reducing the number of chains in multiples of 5.
- Numbers at the end of each row (in brackets) indicate the number of final stitches in that row.
- Ch 1 at the beginning of a row does not count as a stitch.
- Please note that I use US crochet terms.

Easy Crochet Boot Cuffs Crochet Pattern Instructions
Tie a slip knot on your hook & chain 30 + 1 turning chain (check the circumference of your boot and adjust number of chains accordingly, ensuring you have a multiple of 5 + 1 turning chain). Also hold the chain closed from both ends to form a circle and pass it through your foot and heels (like wearing a sock). If it’s too tight, add multiples of 5 sts or use a larger hook size.

You will see an elevated ridge has formed in this row. This will be placed along the rim of your boot.

Leave a 4” tail, cut yarn and fasten off.
Fold cuff in half so the wrong side is facing outwards and aligning the short sides together. Thread your yarn tail with your yarn needle and stitch the 2 sides together neatly. Weave in your ends.
Note: If you're making these boot cuffs for tan boots that have a flap in the back, make sure to leave a space open (unstitched) of 3 rows (before and after the ridge).

Align short ends and stitch closed

Flip your boot cuff inside out so the wrong side of the scalloped edge is facing outwards now.

Position the boot cuff into your boot so that the ridge of R 7 is exactly on the rim of your boot and the scalloped edge is on the outside of the boot.
To wear this boot cuff, put it on like a sock before you put on your boots, then once you're wearing the boots, fold the cuff over the rim of your boot.
Repeat these instructions for your second boot cuff.
I hope you enjoyed this boot cuff pattern. Let me know if you have any questions in the comments below.
Happy hooking!

Thank you for allowing me to test these boot cuffs for you. The pattern is easy to follow and quick to make. There’s a grammar error on R12 where you repeated the words “more times”. Love the finished product which I’m going to give to my daughter.
Forget to mention I used approximately 66 meters of yarn. 4 Seasons Marvel 8 ply acrylic.
That’s awesome! Thank you so much for this info and for testing Liz 🙂 I’ll start working on the pdf soon and send it on here for everyone.
Oh yes! Thank you so much for pointing this out Liz! I fixed it 🙂
I just finished the boot cuffs and they look amazing. Now to find someone who would like me to gift them too!! Thank you for letting me help out with this test!!
