Smooth Color Change in Continuous Single Crochet Rounds
Ditch the Jag with This Joining Trick!
Changing colors in the round in single crochet can sometimes leave a jagged line that's quite unsightly.
There are several ways to go about changing colors, but I thought I'd show you my little trick that reduces this jag quite a bit.

Basically, I don't work a slip stitch to join rounds and ch 1 to go to the next round.
I work 2 slip stitches and then continue with my single crochet around the project.
Let me show you exactly what I mean, step by step.
Changing Colors in Continuous Crochet Rounds (Spiral Rounds)
Do you already know how to crochet a spiral? If you don't, have a look at this post first.
Once you get the hang of crocheting a spiral, and you want to work up amigurumi toys, baskets or other projects that are worked in the round, you might want to use several colors in your project.
To join a new color in continuous single crochet rounds, follow these steps
Let's say you finished a round in black and would like to join a new yellow yarn.
1. Insert your hook through the top of the first stitch of this round (where I've placed the stitch marker),
2. Drop color A (black) behind your work (the color you were just working with),
3. Yarn over with color B (yellow) & pull through both loops on your hook,
4. Pull both yarns tight so you can barely see the yellow coming through the bottom,
5. Slip Stitch into the next stitch,
6. Sc into the next st and continue to sc to complete the round
Try to crochet over the yellow yarn tail so you don't have to weave in the ends later.
Your last stitch of this round will be under the slip stitch you began this round with.
7. Continue to crochet in the round and repeat these steps with every subsequent color change.

I hope this tutorial helped you get smoother color change rounds. There will still be a slight jag, but nothing compared to the regular chain 1 between single crochet continuous rounds.
