Beginner Crochet Slipper Pattern Instructions
Slippers (x 2)
R 1:
Tie a slip knot on your hook, ch 2, then 10 dc into the 2nd ch from your hook.
Optional alternative: Magic Circle, ch 2, 10 dc into MC, pull circle closed.
Sl st to the top of your first dc to join (10).
R 2: Ch 2, 2 dc into each st around, sl st to join (20).
R 3-8 (6 rounds total): Work Rounds 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, and 8 the same way: Ch 2, dc in each st around, sl st to join. (20)
R 9: Ch 2, 14 dc, turn (14).
R 10 - 14: Ch 2, 14 dc, turn (5 rows,14).
R 15: Ch 2, 14 dc (14). The only reason I wrote R 15 separate is because we're not turning here.
Don't cut yarn.
Test the size of your slipper (either by trying it on, or checking the size based on the Slipper Sizing Chart above). Add or remove rows as necessary.
Fold heel end of your slippers in half, join both corners with a sc.
Now you have 2 options depending on whether you have tight or loose tension:
If you have tight tension: place 2 sc into each stitch along the side of your slipper (14 sc).
7 sc along the front of your slipper (1 sc into each stitch).
2 sc into the side of each dc stitch along the other side of your slipper towards the heel (14).
Sl st to join.
If you can crochet loosely:
sc loosely into each stitch along the side of your slipper (8 sc).
7 sc along the front of your slipper (1 sc into each stitch).
sc into the side of each dc stitch along the other side of your slipper towards the heel (8). Sl st to join.
Try on your slipper and make sure it's not too tight or too loose. Adjust number of sc accordingly.
Leaving a long 10" tail, cut your yarn, fasten off.
Thread the tail onto your yarn needle.
Stitch the heel gap closed from the inside of your slipper (whip stitch under both loops of your stitches on either side of the heel).
Attach Color 2 on the top of the heel end of your slipper (top).
With the heel facing towards the right, sc around (45).
Sl st to join.
Try on your slipper and make sure it's not too tight or too loose.
Leaving a 4" tail, cut your yarn, fasten off.
Weave in ends.
Flower (x 2)
Using a 4mm hook and Color 1, start with a Magic Circle (MC).
Note: If you don’t know how to work a Magic Circle, you can ch 2 and work R 1 into the second ch from your hook.
R 1: Work 5 sc into the Magic Circle. Pull the MC closed. Sl st to the first sc to join.(5)
Cut your yarn, leaving a 4" tail. Fasten off.
R 2: Attach Color 2 to any st of R 1 with a ch. Into the same st, work [3 dc, sl st into the same st].
Repeat: [Sl st into the next st, 3 dc into the same st, sl st into the same st] around. (5 petals total)
Sl st to the base of the first petal to join.
Cut your yarn, leaving a long tail for attaching to the slippers. Fasten off. Pull yarn tails tightly.
Attach your flowers to the tops of your slippers with your darning needle. Secure tightly. Cut off excess yarn.
