Easy Twist Ear Warmer Crochet Pattern (PDF)

Materials Needed

• Aran / Worsted weight yarn. I used Big Twist Rave 100% Premium Acrylic
• Crochet hook: 6 mm
• A tapestry needle
• A pair of scissors
• Measuring tape (if person you’re making this ear warmer for is not available)
• Ear Warmer Sizing Chart (available for Free Download)

Abbreviations 

• Ch = Chain
• hdc = half double crochet
• HdcBLO = half double crochet in back loop only
• st = stitch
• sts = stitches
• fo = fasten off

Skill Level

Beginner

Gauge
12 sts and 10 rows in hdc = 10 cm (4″) with a 6 mm hook.

Size
Please refer to the ear warmer sizing chart linked above for desired sizing. This ear warmer I made for my 8-year old daughter measures 42 cm (16.5″).

Yardage

I used about 54 m for this project (59 yards).

Notes

• This ear warmer pattern is beginner-friendly with step-by-step photo tutorials.
• You can make the pattern larger or smaller by either: changing the yarn weight and/or hook size, or adding / reducing the number of chains. Check the FREE ear warmer sizing chart.
• Head Circumference: Measure around the widest part of the head and subtract the desired amount of negative ease (1–2 inches).
• Example Calculation:
  • Head circumference: 22 inches
  • Desired ease: 2 inches negative
  • Ear Warmer/Headband length: 20 inches
• Numbers at the end of each row (in brackets) indicate the number of final stitches in that row. 
• Ch 1 at the beginning of a row does not count as a stitch.
• Please note that I use US crochet terms.
