Christmas Wind Spinner Crochet Pattern (PDF Printable)

Materials Needed

Weight 4 or Aran weight yarn (acrylic or cotton) in red, white, black and a short strand of yellow. I used Loops & Threads Classic Cotton
4 mm crochet hook
2 styrofoam baubles size 6 cm (2.3 inches), 18 cm (7 inches) circumference. You can buy them from here.
A tapestry needle
A pair of scissors
Googly eyes, safety eyes (6mm), stick-on eyes or a permanent marker

Abbreviations

ch = chain
sc = single crochet
dc = double crochet
mc – magic circle
st = stitch
sts = stitches
fo = fasten off

Skill Level

Gauge

Gauge = 16 dc and 6 rows with a 4 mm crochet hook = 4″ (10 cm).

If your wind spinner looks narrower than you anticipated, try a thicker weight yarn or add another row or two to make it wider.

If you want your wind spinner to be longer, just increase the number of stitches in your beginning chain.

Size

This wind spinner measures 57 cm (22.5 inches) in length when hanging.
Santa Bauble embellishments measure about 21 cm (8 inches) in circumference.

Yardage

Wind Spinner Body: Approx. 35 m (38 yards)
Baubles: 20 m each (22 yards each)

Notes

– You can make the pattern larger or smaller by changing the type of yarn and/or hook size. Have a look at this Springtime wind spinner made with acrylic weight 4 yarn (Aran)

– Numbers at the end of each row/round (in brackets) indicate the number of final stitches in that row/round.

– Ch 2 at the beginning of a round does not count as a stitch (only in baubles).

– When you see [ text ] followed by x 6, this means that you should repeat the instructions in the [brackets] 6 times.

– Please note that I use US crochet terms.
