Notes
- You can make the pattern larger or smaller by changing the type of yarn and/or hook size. Depending on the size of your lip balm, lipstick or lip gloss, you might want to add a few rounds of white to increase height.
- Numbers at the end of each row (in brackets) indicate the number of final stitches in that row.
- Please ensure that your lip balm is the size of the bottom of the holder after round 2.
- Insert your lip-balm, lipstick or lip gloss into the holder when you get to almost the end to see if you need to add a few rounds to adjust height.
- We’ll be working in the round, so a stitch marker is advised.

Snowman Lip Balm Holder Keychain Pattern Instructions
Body
- Round 1: With white yarn, work 6 sc into a MC. If you don’t know how to crochet a MC, start with Ch 2, then crochet 6 sc into the second chain from the hook (6).

- Pull the tail end to close the circle. We will be working in continuous rounds so insert a stitch marker into the first st of each upcoming round.

- Round 2: 2 sc into each stitch around (12).
- Note: Place your lip-balm on this circle and check that it fits well inside the circle.

- Rounds 3-14: sc into each stitch around (12). Leave a 4" tail, cut your yarn and fasten off. (12 rounds)

- Round 15-16: Join red yarn, sc into each stitch around (12). (2 rounds).
Note: Learn how to join colors neatly.
- Do not cut yarn & continue to hanger.

Hanger
- Chain 30. Attach the end to the opposite side of the top of the chapstick holder with a sl st.

- Leaving a 4” tail, cut your yarn and fasten off.
- Weave in end and secure the hanger with a couple of stitches.

Buttons
- Cut a 10" piece of black yarn and thread through your darning needle.
- With black yarn and using your darning needle, work 3 French Knots in the center of the body one above the other, 2 sts apart. It's best to start with the bottom one first.

You may watch this video tutorial to see how to create the French Knots.
- When you're done with the 3 French Knots, turn your work inside out and tie a double knot with the two ends of the red yarn to secure.

Hat
Note: When working with black yarn, I highly advise you work in a place that has good lighting and it might also be helpful to use a stitch marker on your first stitch of each round. We will be working in joining rounds for the hat, but you're welcome to use the continuous rounds method if you wish.
- Round 1: With black yarn, start by crocheting 6 sc into a MC. Pull your MC closed (loosely), join to the first st with a sl st, ch 1 (6). Don't close it too tight because we'll be pulling the hanger through this little hole in the end.

- Rounds 2: 2 sc into each st around. Join to the first st with a sl st, ch 1 (12).
- Round 3-5: sc into each st around. Join to the first st with a sl st, ch 1 (12). [3 rounds]

- Round 6: [sc into the first st, 2 sc into the next st]. Repeat [ ] 5 more times. Join to the first st with a sl st (18).

- Leaving a 4” tail, cut your yarn and fasten off.
- Add stripe: With red yarn, surface slip stitch on Round 5 all around the hat (12). Join to the first st, leave a 4 inch tail & cut your yarn. (See video tutorial below).

- Leaf: With green yarn, tie a slip knot on your hook, ch 3.
- Leave a 4” tail, cut yarn & fasten off.

- Attach the green leaf on the right side of the hat, on top of the red strip. Use your darning needle to insert each yarn end into the hat leaving one st in between both ends.
- Tie a double knot on the inside of the hat, weave in all ends & cut off the leftover tails.
- Insert your hook inwards into the top of the hat and catch the chain that's attached to the body to pull it through the top of the hat.

- Attach the metal keyring to the end of your long red chain.
- You’ll be able to move the hat up and down the chain to open and close the chapstick holder.

I hope you enjoyed crocheting this cute little Snowman Chapstick Holder! Who are you making it for?
I’d love to hear from you!
Happy hooking!
